At least 7 hurt as blast hits MP Taposh's car

Dhaka, Oct 21 (bdnews24.com)—The car of Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh MP was hit by a blast on Wednesday, injuring at least seven people, police said.

His personal secretary Wahidul Alam Arif told bdnews24.com Taposh escaped with minor cuts.

Taposh, a lawyer in the Bangabandhu murder case and a close relative of the prime minister, was leaving his Motijheel office at around 8.30pm when the explosion occurred, said Arif.

"He immediately made his way to the prime minister's Jamuna residence," the aide said.

Police could not immediately confirm the source of the blast.

The seven injured men, taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, were Abdul Hali, 35, Kamal Haidar, 40, Takim Gazi, 35, Arman Haque, 28, Mohammad Ripon, 27, Nasud Al Mamun, 40 and Salauddin Panna, 52.

They were described as Awami League supporters.
