MUMBAI, Nov 12 (bdnews24.com/Reuters) - Sri Lanka batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan is expected to play in the opening Test against India in Ahmedabad from Monday despite suffering an ankle injury.

The opener suffered the injury while practising at the indoor nets at the Bandra Kurla Complex on Wednesday.

"It's a minor ankle sprain," team manager Brendon Kuruppu told reporters on Thursday after the second successive day of their tour game against an Indian Board President's XI was abandoned due to wet ground conditions.

"He batted today (at the indoor nets). He should be okay in a couple of days. As of now the reports are very positive."

Sri Lanka are second behind South Africa in the official Test rankings and will be aiming to win a series on Indian soil for the first time.

The visitors, who have failed to record a victory in any of the 14 matches they have played in India since their first Test visit in 1982, are due to play three Tests, five one-dayers and two Twenty20 internationals.
