Mymensingh, Nov 29 (bdnews24.com) – Nine people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus crashed into a roadside ditch off the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhaluka early Sunday.

Additional police super SM Akhteruzzaman said the Mymensingh-bound bus lost control as it veered at high speed to avoid a truck at Meherabari at around 1am.

Three people died on the spot, he said.

Ten critically injured passengers were admitted to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, where four succumbed to injuries.

The remaining six were later shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where another two died, Akhteruzzaman said.

Nine of the dead were identified as 'Monwara', 'Bipul' and 'Shahid' of Netrokona, 'Mozammel', 'Helena', 'Manik', 'Ujjal' and Azizur Rahman of Mymensingh.
