Three die in train-cab collision

Tangail, Feb 9 (bdnews24.com) – Three people were killed and another three injured when a train rammed into a pedicab at Basail under Tangail district on Tuesday.

Basail police station chief Golam Mostafa said the three, including the cab's driver, died on the spot when Dhaka-bound Silkcity Express hit it at around 11:30 am at Dapnajore unauthorised level crossing, which didn't have any cross bar.

The dead include Bakul Begum (50) of Gosaibari Kumulli village under Tangail Sadar upazila. Identities of two other vcitims could not be ascertained till filing of this report at around 3:30 pm.

The injured were taken to Tangail general hospital in a critical condition, hospital doctors said.

Bangladesh Railway additional director general (operations) told bdnews24.com that a three-member probe committee had been formed to find out who was responsible for the incident.

He said Dapnajore level crossing is a makeshift structure, which is not approved by the railway authorities.
