Khagrachhari, Mar 5 (bdnews24.com)—Arsonists on Thursday torched four indigenous homes and a school run by UNICEF in the troubled Baghaichari upazila of Rangamati hill district.

Rangamati deputy commissioner Surendranath Chakrabarty told bdnews24 that Baghaichari upazila nirbahi officer was sent to the spot at Dainevaiva Chara in Baghaihat.

The incident comes just two weeks after violent clashes over land disputes between hill people and Bengali settlers in the same remote area of Baghaihat, during which entire villages were set alight and at least two people killed.

A local teacher Anchika Chakma told bdnews24.com the homes of Kina Chan Chakma, Baika Chakma, Bidyasadan Tripura and Doyal Krishna were set alight around 9pm on Thursday.
