Five advisers appointed, three take oath

Three advisers were sworn in to the caretaker government at the Bangabhaban Tuesday. The three advisers are: Ayub Quaderi, former secretary, Anwarul Iqbal, former police officer and a RAB chief, and former major general Matiur Rahman, a physician and an AIDs specialist.

Dhaka, Jan 16 (bdnews24.com) – Three advisers were sworn in to the caretaker government at the Bangabhaban Tuesday.
The three advisers are: Ayub Quaderi, former secretary, Anwarul Iqbal, former police officer and a RAB chief, and former major general Matiur Rahman, a physician and an AIDs specialist.
The swearing-in ceremony came before a cabinet meeting scheduled for 8pm.
Iqbal was promoted to inspector general of police after the caretaker government of President Iajuddin Ahmed took over. Iqbal later resigned.
Dr Iftekar Ahmed Chowhdury, a career diplomat and currently Bangladesh ambassador to the United Nations, who has also been named for the interim authority, is abroad.
Faiz Khan, an IT specialist and consultant who worked for Customs Administration and Modernisation Project (CAMP) at NBR, is also abroad.
Iftekar and Faiz will take oath later.
Five advisers were sworn in to the caretaker government Saturday after President Iajuddin Ahmed resigned as interim boss.
Adviser-designate Iftekhar Chowdhury is brother of chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed's wife, Nina.
Another adviser, Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, is closely related to Dr Ahmed. Geeteara is Nina's sister-in-law.
